Take Time Off

3.1 Phillip Lim is thrilled to announce the launch of the 3.1 Phillip Lim ‘Take Time Off’ campaign. The campaign, a celebration of creativity and community, is a partnership between the brand and seven esteemed photographers and videographers, highlighting the 31Tribe.

The tribe is our family. Passionate, culturally curious and socially aware; constantly challenging convention, relishing in diversity and finding beauty in the everyday. It is the global citizens we’ve met on our travels, the creatives who inspire us, the people we surround ourselves with, at work and at play; the family we’ve made. We invite you to step inside the 3.1 Phillip Lim world, join us on the journey, become part of our tribe. You can always sit with us.

Renell Medrano

Hailing from the Bronx, 26 year old Renell Medrano is fast becoming a creative force to work with, both in front of, and behind the camera. Renell’s raw aesthetic saw her awarded the New York Times Lens Blog award before her graduation from Parson’s School of Design. That aesthetic has since become her trademark allowing her to shoot a wide range of subjects from reportage stories in her area to celebrity talent.

This is 3.1 Phillip Lim’s first collaboration with Renell Medrano. Renell shot her campaign in the Bronx, NY.

She has been exhibited globally, published many books of her work and won numerous awards including The Prix de Rome in 2007 and showing at the Venice Biennale in 2013. A presentation of her work will open summer 2019 at The Hepworth Wakefield that will include both new works and a self-curated selection of her images from the past ten years. Drew Vickers

Drew Vickers grew up in Colorado and moved to LA in 2011. After an initial foray in the film industry, his interest in photography grew and he decided to move to New York to pursue photo full time. “Photography works for me as a way to express ideas and have a voice creatively. It's kind of like being a musician, you get to work with other creative people on projects but have the choice to go out on your own and create work by yourself, so the best of both worlds. I think at the heart of my work is portraiture and trying to capture something that feels real and elicits some emotion. I'd hope to be able to look back on my work and see something that feels timeless rather than stuck in its particular moment aesthetically; I don't want to make the Mullet equivalent of a picture.”

3.1 Phillip Lim has been collaborating with Drew Vickers since 2017 Drew shot his campaign in the California Desert.
